Family Reunification and family residence in Spain
There are three different family routes in Spain — and choosing the right one changes everything. Bring your family to join you, or move to Spain to be with a Spanish or EU relative.
Last reviewed: October 2026
Which route is yours?
- You live in Spain with a residence permit and want to bring your spouse, children or parents → family reunification.
- Your spouse, partner, parent or child is Spanish → residence as a family member of a Spanish citizen (5 years, no income requirement).
- Your relative is a citizen of another EU country living in Spain → EU family residence card.
- Not sure? That's exactly what the first consultation is for.
What qualifies you
- A relative living in Spain — a resident, a Spanish citizen or an EU citizen.
- Proof of the family relationship.
- For reunification: enough means and housing (family of Spaniards need no minimum income).
